Thank
you for visiting with us and welcome to the world of one of
the most loyal, protective, intelligent breeds available
today- the American Bulldog.
We have always been "dog people," as a matter
of fact, I don't remember there ever being a period in my
entire life that we didn't have at least one dog.
We've owned and raised various purebred and
"mutt" dogs, but there was usually a bully breed of
some sort around. Bully
breeds have always been our favorite.
Our children grew up with Lily - a Boxer/Pit mix that
was their loyal companion and playmate.
A few years later, our interest in American Bulldogs
began after the death of our beloved Jessie.
Jessie was a large, mostly white bulldog we acquired as
a pup under the loosely used term "pit bull."
Well, Jessie grew to be quite a large dog, with much
wider features (and much bigger feet!) than any pit we could
remember. We
dedicate this site to Lily and Jessie, and you can see
pictures of the two on our In Memory page.
Well, after Jessie's death and a long bereavement
period, we decided something was just missing and decided to
try to find a pup like Jessie.
After some research we found that, indeed, our dog
Jessie looked nothing like the pictures of pit bull terriers
or American Staffordshires- she was identical to the pictures
of the American Bulldog!
So we decided we would visit a show somewhere close to
home and check these dogs out firsthand.
As luck would have it, the Johnson Fall Classic in 1998
was coming up soon about 120 miles away at Mr. John D.
Johnson's place in Summerville, GA.
After contacting Mr. Johnson, and his assurance that a
show was a very good place to start, we made plans to go.
We had not been on the grounds 10 minutes and were sold
lock, stock and barrel on getting an American Bulldog.
We bought our first pup from Cedar Creek Kennel in the
summer of 2000 and soon learned that these dogs are like
potato chips - you can't have just one.
Many thanks go to Dixie Luckman for her endless
patience in answering every possible question there is to ask
about these dogs.
Another of our favorite hobbies is auto racing and
NASCAR. For
35 weekends a year our place is full of bulldogs, children and
grandchildren, and the sites and sounds of "the
races." It's
not unusual for the TV to be in the window and the radio in
the barn tuned to the race while we do our kennel work and
work the dogs! So
we thought it would be pretty cool to combine our two favorite
pastimes. Thus
our website with a racing theme was born!
Thanks so much Mike DeGolier of Ruff Diamond for
setting up and building our site, then proceeding to teach us
the ropes on keeping our own unique website up and running!
We are still very small and our dogs are very much a
part of our lives, family and household.
We can guarantee that pups from our kennel are WELL
socialized! We
are located just 85 miles southeast of Atlanta, out in the
country, and welcome visitors to our kennel.
If you are ever in the area just give us a call.
Thank
you for visiting & Happy Bulldoggin' !
